There are two types of people. Those who wake up earlier to get themselves ready and those who oversleep with only have 5 minutes to spare. In case you didn’t guess from the title, I’m the second person. So when I’m usually on the go, I do the bare minimum with my makeup and it works best for me as it doesn’t require any effort. I’ve been wearing this look pretty much all Summer, although whenever I’m sat at home or breaking out, I usually don’t wear any makeup at all. Apart from the times where I end up playing with makeup whenever I get bored (does anyone else do that too?). To create this easy yet wearable look, I’ve been using these trusty products that help me look some what presentable throughout my day.
To start off I use the NYX First Base Primer Spray to prep my skin. I’ve tried a few other drugstore primers that I have struggled to use in the past, such as the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser and the Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer – however this NYX primer is a pretty decent product. It maintains my makeup well and is very lightweight (perfect for everyday uses). This is actually my first time owning a primer in a spray form and I’ve been liking it because it’s super quick and easy to apply onto my skin, especially when I’m in a rush.
So once I’ve quickly prepped my face, I let the primer sit and dry on my skin before moving onto my eyebrows and foundation. Now I would’ve shown you some lovely images of the Sleek Eyebrow Kit I use but to be completely honest with you, it looks gross. No amount of lighting or angles could’ve saved it. So what’s good about this kit is that it comes with a gel, a powder, two small eyebrow brushes and a set of mini tweezers (cute!). I use this product in the shade ‘Dark’ and it’s great for shaping and defining your brows. I love it, I’ve used it up sooo much that I’ve basically hit pan on both sides.
FOUNDATION + CONCEALER
How many of you have ever felt personally victimized by badly oxidized and ashy foundation? *everybody puts their hands up* I am forever going into stores and desperately trying to swatch different foundation shades to only go home and see it look completely different. But I’ve finally found a foundation (and it’s drugstore!) that doesn’t have that disappointing result on me. This is the EX1 Invisiwear Foundation that you may have seen being hyped around YouTube. I use it in the shade 8.0 and I’ve been loving it as it feels super light and glowy on the skin and has the yellow undertone I’ve been looking for. To apply this foundation I usually use one or two pumps of product and create small dots around my face with my clean fingers. I then blend it into my skin and a little on my neck using my Beauty Blender.
Carving out my eyebrows with concealer is a complete game changer. It’s also the most satisfying part of my makeup routine. I use the LA Girl Pro Concealer in the shade ‘Pure Beige’ to clean up the edges and to neaten out the shape of them. I also use the same concealer to highlight and conceal certain areas of my face, mostly under my eyes and covering any blemishes or acne scars.
To set my concealer I use the Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana powder which is said to be a cheaper dupe for the Ben Nye Banana powder and just by looking at the packaging, I can see why. I like using this powder to mainly set my under eyes to prevent it from creasing and also on my t-zone as it’s where I tend to get oily the most. I think it’s a lovely product, it blends out quite nicely, it holds my makeup in place and has good warm/yellow undertone to suit my complexion.
BRONZER + GLOW
To contour my cheeks and to warm up my face, I have been using the Sleek Face Contour Kit in the shade ‘Medium’. I’ve been a fan of Sleek Makeup for years now and their eyeshadows and powders have always been really pigmented, so definitely for me, a little goes a long way with this product. To apply my contour I use this angled blush brush from the pound store and I’m not even kidding, it is surprisingly good for contouring. With this I like to slowly build up the powder rather than applying a lot of product at once to avoid looking muddy. Then to clean up my contour on the sides of my cheeks, I go back in with my banana powder. I also use this same bronzer as an eyeshadow to contour my eyelids as a finishing touch.
To highlight my face and add some of that summer glow, I’ve have been using the Laura Geller Baked Illuminator in the shade ‘Gilded Honey’. This is another highly spoken product in the makeup community and it deserves to be, it really is THAT good. I’m obsessed with it and I can never get sick of watching it glide onto my skin. With my application I tend to switch between applying it with an eyeshadow brush and my Beauty Blender.
MASCARA + LIP BALM
We’re nearly there, I honestly didn’t think that a look so simple would be this long in a blog post. But lastly to wrap up my current makeup routine, I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara to make my eyelashes look more fuller and awake, I then pop on any sort of lip balm I have closest to me.
So there we have it, my lazy guide to my everyday makeup routine. I had tons of fun creating this post and i’m happy to be getting back into writing and blogging. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this but also let me know in the comments below if you prefer shorter posts with more visuals or the chatty, longer posts.
Until the next time,
